Silver Apple Winner Veronica Soria

Every school needs a librarian just like her. She brings so much joy, fun and laughter to our school.”

With those words, C. J. Jorgensen School third-grader Mariah Raiter nominated the school’s Library Paraprofessional Veronica Soria for the AZ Family 3TV Silver Apple Award.

Soria was selected. During a special ceremony this month, AZ Family 3TV, the Dairy Council of Arizona and Soria’s family surprised the educator for The Silver Apple Award presentation. Soria’s kindergarten students were present to enjoy milk and cookies with her during the recorded event.
“Ms. Soria is the most wonderful person in the world,” Principal Dr. Joyce Luckie said. “Only good things can be said about her from students, parents or teachers. Everyone loves her.”

In addition to Soria’s family, guests included RSD No. 66 Governing Board Member Lawrence Robinson, Lead Librarians Pamela Hulin and Nancy Schwartz, and district administration.

The surprise award presentation aired Feb. 20 on 3TV/CBS 5. Additionally, Soria was presented a $500 check on behalf of the Dairy Council to continue her education efforts in South Phoenix.
