District Updates

  • Message from the Superintendent Regarding Returning to School

    June 30, 2020

    Hello Roosevelt Community,

As of June 29, 2020, Governor Ducey issued an Executive Order to delay the in-person start of the 2020-2021 school year until Monday, Aug. 17th, 2020.  While Arizona schools will not be able to offer an in-person option before the date approved by the State, Roosevelt will begin to offer distance learning opportunities on August 3rd, 2020 to ensure that our students receive the academic, social and emotional, and additional resources that they need to be healthy and successful.

We are eager for our staff, students and families to reconnect and our primary goal is to re-introduce all of our students and staff to a safe, healthy, and engaging learning environment, whether in person or remotely during the 2020-2021 school year.

Congratulations to our Promoting Eighth Grade Students

Although we never envisioned our 8th Grade Promotion Ceremonies in this way, our Roosevelt School District amazing students stepped up in ways we never imagined they would have to at such a young age. They transitioned quickly to work remotely using their Apple iPad devices for the past two months, they connected with their teachers and friends virtually and overcame tremendous obstacles to make it to this point. We are very proud of each and every one of our 8th grade promotes – soon to be high school students!

  • Roosevelt School District Leadership Develops Return to School Task Force

The school year just came to a close and we are already planning how to welcome students and staff back to our schools for the 2020-21 academic year with appropriate considerations. Our district leadership has created a Return to School Task Force comprised of teachers, site leaders, parents and RSD staff from throughout the district. The Task Force is diligently working on developing a “return to school plan” that includes guidelines, protocols and most importantly standards and safety procedures for classrooms, learning resources, transportation, meal distribution, communication protocols and continued sanitization of all district facilities. Please know that the safety and wellbeing of our students and staff continues to be a priority and decisions will be made based on public health and elected officials’ guidelines, in addition to the data gathered from our families and staff. In an effort to gain awareness to better support a successful reopening, we created two surveys, one for staff and one for families and community. The survey is on our website and our social media pages and will remain open until June. 5. We will use the feedback to better inform our decisions as we plan the reopening of school next year.
