I want to start by wishing everyone a Happy New Year as we move into 2022. I also want to welcome our community back. As staff have returned today and students tomorrow, I want to remind the community of our commitment to the health and safety of our students, staff, and families. As we return back to school, we are in the midst of another COVID-19 surge, particularly, the omicron variant. As a reminder, getting vaccinated is the best approach to help prevent infection and spread.

Being a governing board member is anything but easy, especially as we've navigated the last couple of years in the face of a global pandemic. On behalf of our school district, our broader community, from superintendent Dr. Quintin Boyce, thank you to Lawrence Robinson, Michelle Campuzano, Nancy Piña-Gray, Alexis Aguirre and thank you to Shelly Jackson. Together, your unwavering commitment and support for our school district has made Roosevelt a destination space for students, families and staff alike. We've worked diligently to change the narrative of Roosevelt and moreover the entire South Phenix community. During a time where governing board members have risked their livelihoods making tough decisions to ensure the prosperity of a community, we all say thank you. Thank you for your leadership, commitment and sacrifices. Roosevelt is a better place because you are here.
