Spring Promotion Events

  • 8th Grade Promotion

    8th grade students and families are invited to a walk-through promotion celebration on Thursday May 20 from 6:00-7:00 PM. The event will take place on the playground next to the front office. 8th grade students, with a maximum of four guests per student, may come to campus any time between 6:00 and 6:30 PM (Ms. Connors' homeroom) and 6:30 and 7:00 PM (Mr. Weed's homeroom). Upon arrival, students will walk around the playground with their guests. There will be opportunities for photos and the chance to speak to Chavez staff to celebrate their hard work as Cesar Chavez students. 8th graders will receive their promotion certificates at this time as well. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, masks and physical distancing will be required of students, staff, and guests at all times.

  • Promoción de Octavo Grado

    Los estudiantes de octavo grado y sus familias están invitados a una celebración de promoción de recorrido el jueves 20 de mayo de 6: 00-7: 00 PM. El evento se llevará a cabo en el patio de recreo junto a la oficina principal. Los estudiantes de octavo grado, con un máximo de cuatro invitados por estudiante, pueden venir al campus en cualquier momento entre las 6:00 y las 6:30 p. M. (Salón principal de la Sra.     Kinder Promotion is around the corner! Date: Thursday, May 20th Time: 9am-10am Where: primary playground Dress code: DRESS TO IMPRESS Guest limit: 4 per kinder student While Covid-19 has negatively impacted us this year, it will not stop us from celebrating your child’s kinder year! Please join us for our Walk-Thru Kinder Promotion. Families will walk with their kinder, take pictures & say goodbye to their kinder teachers. Kinders can be taken home to celebrate for the rest of the day but MUST be signed out. Due to Covid-19 regulations we will continue to keep socially distanced & masked. This is a walk-thru event & therefore, unfortunately, we will not be permitted to stay & mingle.

Return to School Updates

  • Return to School Update 4-14-21

    We are pleased to announce that students who have chosen the in-person learning setting will soon be able to safely attend four days a week through the end of the school year. Our office staff is in the process of communicating details and specific transition timelines to students and families who attend in-person. Please note, all students will remain in a virtual learning environment on Wednesdays. We will continue to follow our current mitigation plans, which include daily temperature checks and face masks worn at all times, along with other key safety protocols.   • Actualización de Regreso a la Escuela 4-14-21

    Nos complace anunciar que los estudiantes que hayan elegido el entorno de aprendizaje en persona pronto podrán asistir de manera segura cuatro días a la semana hasta el final del año escolar.   • Message From the Superintendent 3/5/21

    As we prepare for Spring Break, we wanted to provide clarity around our learning plans for when we return. Earlier this week, we communicated our plan to have students choosing in-person learning return to campus on March 30. After we shared our plans, the Governor released an executive order that requires any family that selected an in-person or hybrid learning option should have the opportunity to be back in classrooms following Spring Break. As a result of the new executive order, we have revised our return to school timeline and the in-person hybrid learning model will now begin on Monday, March 22, 2021.   • Mensaje del Superintendente 3/5/21

    Mientras nos preparamos para las vacaciones de primavera, queríamos brindar claridad sobre nuestros planes de aprendizaje para cuando regresemos.   • Message From the Superintendent 3/3/21

    We are excited to communicate that our team is ready to offer an in-person learning experience beginning the week of March 29 for those families that selected this option. After a full year of teaching and learning in a remote environment we are thankful to be able offer an in-person learning option later this month. Families that have selected to remain in a virtual learning setting will also have that option. Over the course of the next couple weeks, families will receive additional details directly from their school to provide information about the changes to learning that will occur during the week of March 29.   • Grab-and-Go Meal Distribution

    IMPORTANT UPDATE: As of Monday, March 22, the following changes to food distribution have been in effect: All food distribution bus routes have been discontinued. Food distribution is served to students attending school on their assigned days (Monday/Tuesday or Thursday/Friday). There will be no curbside pickup or visitors allowed on campus for meal service on those days. Curbside pickup will only be available once per week. Curbside pickup will be Wednesdays from 7:30-8:30 AM. Students and children under 18 can pick up five days worth of meals. Pickup will continue to take place in the north parking lot outside the school cafeteria off Illini Street.

Cesar Chavez Celebration 2021

  • Cesar Chavez Celebration

    Our students and teachers held a week-long celebration in honor of Cesar Chavez, the labor and civil rights activist for whom our school is named. We encouraged an at-home competition using choice boards to create representations of learning about Cesar Chavez. Our students and teachers also engaged in learning activities in the classroom for the entire week about Chavez and his legacy. Watch our video made that showcases our celebration and community.

    We are now enrolling for FREE full-day kindergarten for the 2021-2022 school year. Students must be 5 years old before September 1, 2021 to register. Our office is open Monday through Friday from 8AM-4PM for registrations. Please bring: -A parent photo identification -Birth certificate -Immunization records -Proof of residence (address)

Chavez Virtual Learning

  • Community Wifi Buses/Autobuses Wifi Communitarios

    Four buses are now equipped with Wifi and parked in the community. They are available for use Monday through Friday from 8:15AM-2:15AM. Parents may drive up to any of these buses to retrieve a Wifi connection for students.   • Technology Support

    Roosevelt has partnered with Orcutt Winslow to support families with help in technology. Eight operators are available to assist our families with basic troubleshooting. These operators will be available from 8:00AM to 5:30PM. Students and parents may call these lines for support in authentication, Canvas, and iPad features such as dictation and text to speech.   • Chavez Community Food Pantry Now Open!

    We have officially launched our on-site food pantry in partnership with St. Mary's Food Bank! Details:

     

    What: Food boxes for more than 100 families

    When: Every first and third Thursday of the month

    8:30AM-10:30AM AND 2:00PM-4:00PM

    Where: Zepeda Building at Chavez Leadership Academy, on the corner of 3rd St. and Illini

     

    Bring a box with you to help you carry all of the dry goods and refrigerated goods.
